What about handling? This is one area where being tall doesn't necessarily help. Still, the Aerio pulls through tight corners surprisingly well, albeit leaning a little during the process. It makes up for any handling shortcomings with a compromise most people are willing to make, a comfortable ride. Stopping power comes via front disc brakes and drums in the rear - ABS is only offered with the SX.
While its tall dimensions might not be the best for handling, they do allow for more interior and trunk volume than most competitive vehicles. The trunk is especially roomy, gobbling up 413 L of cargo in sedan form, 364 L in 5-door and even more with the split rear seats folded. Dual cupholders in the front center console work well, while those in the rear folding armrest are only available with the optional GLX package. The GLX package adds a storage tray under the front seat as well.
Capacity is only part of the 'inside' story. The quality of the Aerio's plastic trim is a step above average too, as is the way it's all put together. There aren't any obvious gaps or loose pieces to transform into irritating squeaks once the test drive is over. The attractive dash uses a digital gauge cluster - a rare feature. As far as comfort goes, the front bucket seats are supportive with adequate adjustments for this class, while driver's seat height adjustment comes as part of the GLX package. Rear seats offer plenty of leg and head room too. Power windows, power tilt steering and AM/FM/CD audio come standard. Optional features include a 6-speaker Clarion AM/FM stereo with cassette and in-dash CD, A/C, cruise control, power door locks, remote keyless entry, power heated mirrors and alloy wheels.
Suzuki offers a wide variety of colors to help differentiate your Aerio from your neighbors. The Fastback model is available in flash red, mellow yellow and three metallic finishes - sapphire blue, cool beige and silky silver. Also, you can get it in black, red and green pearl. The sedan loses the 5-door's flash red and mellow yellow but adds superior white to the previous list.
