Chrysler's semi-automatic 4-speed AutoStick manual-mode equipped transmission helps to keep control through twisting corners - something the 300M Special does very well. Its front performance-tuned suspension is independent with gas-charged MacPherson struts and a stabilizer bar while the rear suspension incorporates an independent multilink design with Chapman struts and a stabilizer bar. Its speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering system is performance-tuned as well, offering direct turn in and excellent directional stability even at extremely high speeds. While the unique 17-inch alloy wheels on P225/55R17 all-season performance tires are standard an 18-inch alloy wheel and 245/45Z18 tire package is optional. Fortunately even with this low-profile setup the 300M Special soaks up ruts and bumps, effectively smoothing out poorly paved roads while noticeably improving its dynamic handling characteristics. Low-speed traction control also makes a difference especially during inclement weather conditions.

Its standard 4-wheel discs with ABS provide safe and secure stopping distances despite the cars 1,656 kg (3,650 lb) curb weight and the impressive speeds it's capable of attaining. Other safety features include a patented system of side-intrusion-protection door beams and structural body reinforcements, as well as front and rear crumple zones, dual front second-generation airbags, optional side-impact airbags and the child safety seat LATCH system.

Unlike the base 300M that boasts real walnut trim throughout the interior the Special uses carbon-fiber accents giving the attractively designed dash a more technical, sporting appearance. Chronograph style electroluminescent gauges and a classically designed analog clock compliment its unique 'waterfall' patterned rich leather covered seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter handle. Dash, console and door panel plastics are all improved since the cars inception while switchgear now rotates and clicks with German precision. The heated front seats are wonderfully comfortable due to a competent overall design as well as 8-way power driver and 4-way front-passenger adjustment, plus driver's manual lumbar support and adjustable head restraints.
