Will GM resurrect the Daewoo brand in North America? Why should they? They've got enough brand management problems on their hands as it is, not to mention Daewoo's brand equity is among the lowest on the continent. Instead expect to see new compact Chevrolets and Pontiacs engineered and built in GM's new Korean plants. Just when we'll see them is not known, but this could be just what the General needs to cure its small car woes.

But what if you happen to own a Daewoo vehicle? The news could be disconcerting to say the least. While its support of Daewoo Auto Canada hasn't been officially announced it is expected Daewoo customers needn't worry. Like the soon to be discontinued Oldsmobile brand, GM will guarantee warranties will be honored and parts made available for years to come. If they didn't, it would be a public relations fiasco of the worst kind. A good reason for GM to honor existing warranties would be to develop relationships with current Daewoo owners - prime candidates for its future line of Korean built small cars.

Hmmm, with that in mind it might be an opportune time to drive a great bargain for a new Daewoo. Word has it there are dealers with more than ample 2002 stock on their lots and thus, great deals to be had.
