Showing a familial resemblance to the new Maxima sedan and Quest minivan the Dunehawk features Nissan's Skyview roof, a parallel set of longitudinally mounted fixed sunroofs that open up the SUV's rear quarters to UV protected sunlight.

Like the Quest a business jet-like overhead console splits the twin sunroofs, adding air vents and DVD monitors to the vehicle's upmarket appeal.

A few concept only features, at least for now, include LED headlamps, side-mounted cameras, replacing conventional side mirrors, and larger than life wheels and tires. The latter items look mighty powerful inside the Dunehawk's beefy wheel arches, macho styling statements that could very well make it to production.

When push comes to shove this schoolyard bully could easily become the next Nissan Pathfinder. (Photo: Nissan)

The Dunehawk's grille is road ready too, pulling cues from past Nissan trucks as well as the new Titan and Armada. While it's A, B and C-pillars at first seem overly thick, again the aggressive theme fits Nissan's ballsy image. Its narrow rearmost side windows, giving the design a lift at the back end, also pulls from a history of strong Nissan character lines.

When push comes to shove this schoolyard bully could easily become the next Nissan Pathfinder, and with a family of four, another on the way and no definitive end in sight, its 7-occupant capacity could easily win over this family guy. Only time will tell if the Dunehawk, in one form or another, makes it to production, but I'm betting yes.
