Where did Nissan get the name? Murano is a sculpted glass art form renowned for its beauty, found throughout the islands near Venice, Italy. "Murano glass is considered a leader in both cutting edge design and glass making technologies," said William Kirrane, Nissan Vice President and GM. "In many ways, the Nissan Murano mirrors this spirit of innovation in areas such as its styling, Xtronic CVT and unique storage solutions." The Murano goes on sale in December 2002 as a 2003 model.
