As if mere standard luxury features would do in a Rolls-Royce, BMW will make sure it includes such hedonistic pleasures as a climate-controlled cigar humidor in the glovebox, touch-sensitive automatic door latch actuators, an umbrella in its own door holster and optional fitted luggage. Supposedly nineteen standard colors are available while it can be ordered with no less than six distinct interior wood accent packages.
Looking forward to the future while in reverence to the heritage it has been entrusted, BMW has a formidable task ahead. Will the new model be up to recent competition from rival Mercedes-Benz's awe-inspiring Maybach and Volkswagen AG's Bentley Motor Cars? Maybach literally launched its super sedan from the deck of the QE2 while Bentley has recently released black and white photos of its 550-hp, W12 powered all-wheel drive 2004 GT coupé. Anyone who has driven the new 7-Series could attest to the fact that Rolls-Royce is in excellent hands, at least from a technical standpoint. Production of the new car is currently in progress with deliveries to begin on the first of January, 2003.
For the time being there may be a few 2002 BMW V12 powered 322-hp, 5.4-L Silver Seraph and Park Ward limousines left or possibly a 325-hp, 6.75-L Corniche convertible available if you just can't wait. For the rest of you I'll have a full report when more details arrive.
