To be fair more people I talk to about the brand have positive experiences to relate, but there are a few, like this woman, who are so disgruntled they are suing! This small percentage of angry customers may be the reason the Volkswagen brand only places 24th out of 36 automakers in J.D. Powers respected Initial Quality Survey. Clearly quality is an important issue for the German brand.

But when it all comes down to it, the Jetta is such a great car in every other respect many prospective buyers will throw the negatives out the window and opt for one anyway. Having owned a variety of British and Italian cars over the years, that most likely make the worst Volkswagen story look like a Hawaiian vacation in comparison, I have to admit to falling into this camp. Call it sucker syndrome for good looks and a sweet personality or simply the desire to have one of the best sports sedans available for the money, I'm in. The Jetta GLI is that good.
