In back, the center-mounted display and iDrive now feature more functions. Aside from accessing the car's entertainment system, rear passengers have the ability to call upon BMW's ASSIST program, internet-based services, communication, rear climate settings, the navigation system as well as the car's onboard settings.

Improving on comfort, BMW has fitted a new sensor to the car's electronic climate control system. Detecting the car's relative humidity, the car's air conditioning system is automatically activated to reduce the humidity. On the other hand, it can also add moisture to the car's air to prevent itchy and dry noses.

These changes, while seemingly small, continue to enhance a car that has been lauded for best in class performance, comfort, perceived quality, features and luxury. With its technological improvements the 2004 7-Series should be able to restore confidence in those buyers put off by iDrive's previous complications.
