Now that we're back inside, the audio system is superb, probably the best I've heard in the roadster category. But a single disc CD changer? C'mon BMW. A 6-disc stacker is optional. Just above, an optional navigation system pops up out of the dash, an effective system that didn't lead me astray. I like having it tucked away when not in use too, but found the plastics surrounding the screen itself not equal to BMW's high standards.

Of course, I'm purposely being overly picky with a car that comes as close to being perfect as any roadster in its compact class. At a hair over $50K the 2.5 is within reach of executives wanting something fun for the commute, with the 3.0 slightly more of a stretch at $59,900. I could go into detail about the various packages available, but you'd be better served checking out BMW's recently updated website at www.bmw.ca.
When it all comes down to it, I don't expect that all BMW fans will adhere to the brand's bold new styling departure, at least as strongly as I have. By now you should be able to surmise that I'm hooked lock, stock and barrel, at least when it comes to the Z4... and the new 5, the X3 and the 6, of course. OK, even the 7 is starting to grow on me. But styling aside, one thing we can all agree on. BMW is still the one to beat.
