Keeping with the theme of simplicity and clutter reduction, the C-Max will be the first Focus to offer an electronic handbrake. There are no levers to pull or buttons to tug on. As soon as the car is switched off, the e-brake engages, and at the touch of the gas pedal it is released. The resulting room has been used to create more center console storage space.

It is such upscale features, as well as the reported general high quality of interior fit and finishing, that makes the C-Max seem lavish for its segment and size - something the opposition has always failed to accomplish. Its trendy interior should appeal to a wider majority than just families with toddlers and newborns.

As you've probably seen on television, Ford is running an ad campaign for the Hide 'N Go seat on the Freestar minivan. While Ford of America is proud of such an innovative seat, it's got nothing on Europe's Focus C-Max. Although it doesn't seat seven like its North American cousin, the rear bench splits into a 40:20:40 3-way configuration for optimal flexibility. Each segment can fold individually, with headrests that don't have to be removed before the seats fold completely flat. If the need for extra space arises, the seats can also be completely removed. The smaller middle seat folds away into the trunk and the two outer seats can slide towards each other by up to 60 mm (2.4 in) and aft by 100 mm (3.9 in).
This creates more room in every direction. No longer do rear passengers have to feel cooped up in the fetal position, as they can now stretch out and relax. There's also entertainment for those in back depending on trim level and options specified. A fold-down roof-mounted screen with outlets for DVD players and game console systems can be ordered or, alternatively a dual-zone audio package features separate headphone outlets and a separate CD player. This ought to solve music conflicts between passengers.
