With that in mind, not all Americans are aware of the carmaker's improvements over the last decade. During a conversation with my brother-in-law, he mentioned that he test drove a certain 'planetary' domestic economy car and was considering buying it. When I cautioned against it, knowing that he currently drives a Honda and wouldn't be happy with this model over the long, and most likely short haul, I recommended he go drive a Hyundai Elantra. He did, and was so impressed that he bought the upscale GT version. Yes, they've come a long way.
That's my recommendation to anyone considering an SUV as well. In its $22,595 to $33,695 price range, few competitors compare feature for feature. Then when factoring in performance and quality, the larger than compact Santa Fe comes out shining. Surprise yourself by taking one for a spin.
