Conclusion

Mazda seems to be gung-ho about introducing a super sport (not SS but possibly called MPS) version of the 6. It would include the 2.3L 4 cylinder but of the turbocharged variety, all-wheel-drive with matching body kit and 18" alloy wheels. With a rumoured 280 hp, the Mazda Mazdaspeed6 may turn into the Mitsubishi Evolution that Canada never got.

As far as the differences between the tested Mazdas, I guess it is true that no two same cars are identical, they may be fraternal. Hopefully the few improvements planned for the 2005 model year will address the issue of fuel consumption and engine performance. The 4 cylinder Mazda 6 represents a better value as it is easier on gas and is better sorted out.

Here it is...If you enjoy playing golf like my father. If you need to put golf bags and pull-carts in the trunk, like my father. If you refuse to grow old, like my father, then the Mazda 6 Sport or Sport Wagon, with its huge trunk, good looks and reasonable fuel consumption, could be the cars to cure a mild midlife crisis.

Good stuff:
Handling
Large trunk
Exterior styling

Not so good stuff:
Lack lustre V6
Fuel consumption
