Come to think of it, the word premium goes a long way to describe Mitsubishi's new sport utility. While there's no Acura or Cadillac badge on the hood the Endeavor could easily pass for something in this league. From its individualistic design, inside and out, to its full-load of creature comforts including opulent leather seats and trim, it never had me wanting for more. It makes me question what the need is to spend thousands more for the base model of a luxury brand. It's only when going way upscale that the subtle differences in refinement and techno-wizardry come to play.

While hardly an infotainment interface to the likes of Audi's MMI or BMW's iDrive, the Endeavor's electronic display was at least a little more magical. I love the cool digital reproduction of the car's original artist's rendering that builds itself layer by electric blue layer on the information screen at startup. Small things such as this can endear an otherwise well made vehicle to its owner.

The rest of the center stack is well executed, with high-tech blue backlit controls on silver-finish surfaces. Just to the left an attractive gauge package is framed by a comfortable leather-wrapped steering wheel, which also features audio buttons hidden on the backside of the spokes perfectly positioned for easy finger placement - so far my favorite setup for steering-wheel mounted controls. Also worthy of note are the vehicle's black/aluminum door panels, a good example of how form and function are harmonized within this vehicle.
