Conclusion
The Mustang GT is evil. The engine noise is intoxicating and the power is phenomenal. As far as performance for the buck with a warranty goes, the Mustang is a tough act to follow. The V6 convertible is by far the most interesting in its price range where performance and drivability are concerned. The Miata (MX-5) caters to a different audience. For style, for muscle or for just plain fun, the Mustang is sure to please every time.
I have long been jealous of those baby boomers that were of driving age (or not...) for having been able to cruise around in any 50s, 60s or early 70s car. I can only imagine filling up an 18 gallon fuel tank for $10. After driving the Mustang, I can only be more envious.
Ford has really scored big with this re-invented design as it appeals to all age groups and is selling extremely well in both coupe and convertible forms.
Good stuff:
V8 (power)
It is a Mustang (looks, nostalgia)
Not so good stuff:
V8 (loves gas)
It is a Mustang (cheap interior)
Competitors:
In a class of its own...
