Passenger quarters that are an extension of oneself
This may very well be the first time and last time that I ever complain about BMW seats. I found the sport buckets in the M Coupe to be better than adequate for street and track use. However, after a number of hours spent behind the fabulously thick-rimmed M steering wheel, my lower back
began to feel sore and I realised that the center tunnel and door were doing more lateral support than the actual seatback. This came about after I drove a Mercedes SLK 55 AMG where I was not only cuddled but firmly held in place.
Beyond the seats, the occupants are treated to a simple dressed-down cockpit; perfect for a race-car. The audio and climate controls could not simpler and all of these knobs are smartly located. Fit, finish and the selection of materials are irreproachable. Room for your appendages is scarce but that is the way it is. The boot is useful for a pair of suitcases or a very reasonable trip to Costco.
Dream garage
I have a dream garage as does every guy in the world. I have not yet driven the Porsche Cayman and as far as I can tell from the automotive
press, it is quite special and perhaps more satisfying than the M Coupe. That may be so however, for my part, there would be a nice cozy spot in my hanger of cars for the M Coupe. The only changes I would bring to it are an audio system delete and the addition of a full race cage; it would be my weekend track car. Here's to a raise!
