Conclusion
It is almost a shame that the Charger will become such a sales triumph. Those who are going to buy the car to make a statement or because of the impression surrounding the name will be encircled by people purchasing the car because of its "don't tread on me" expression. I predict that they will be everywhere and that everyone will want one. I know I do. This all-American success story was actually designed by a Canadian and is built in Canada. How about that?
Chrysler is heading in the wrong direction: these modern day cars are big, heavy, and powerful and love to chug black gold. As true as this may ring, there is no denying that DCX has hit a deep cord with the American and Canadian public, it is almost as though those who are buying these cars are hoping that the old days will come back. Obviously, they will not and as a clear reminder, in the time that I drove the Charger, I crossed more Honda Insights than I have seen over the last five years...
The Charger SRT-8's pricing has been recently announced at $44,650. When considering that this price will get you 425hp and 420 lb/ft of torque out of a 6.1L Hemi V8, sport seats and suspension, 20" wheels and a look that will melt the paint off the bodies of sport sedans that sell for twice the price, it can only be the deal of the Century.
Good stuff:
Hemi power
Bold styling
Made in Canada
Not so good stuff:
Hemi thirst
Seats lack support
Competitors:
None really...
Ford Five Hundred
Toyota Avalon
Chevrolet Impala
