Optional features include auto up/down on the driver's window and auto up on the passenger's side window in LX models, keyless entry on DX-G,

that includes an engine immobilizer standard, an upgraded six-speaker stereo system that includes an auxiliary jack for an iPod, or the like in EX models, a trim level that also adds a trunk release to the keyless remote.

If the Civic was all about standard and optional features and not such basics as fit and finish outside and in, materials quality in the latter, plus overall layout, it might still seem like good value, but add in its high-grade plastics, attractive instrument display that actually integrates a unique dual binnacle instrument cluster, which includes one set of gauges in the traditional location behind the tilt and telescopic steering wheel and another atop the dash directly below the driver's line of sight when looking at the road ahead. This allows for quick referencing of primary controls without compromising safety.

reach, plus the high tactile quality of each knob, button and dial, while the stereo's primary functions can be actuated via remote steering wheel mounted buttons, in the LX.

The heating, ventilation and air conditioning interface is also top-grade, easy to use and attractively laid out. I made a point of testing out fan speed, which should be ideal for long, cold Canadian winters, as was the heat that the HVAC systems many vents emit. Likewise the car's air conditioning came on strong and fast, and due to fall temperatures in the windy city the latter test ended quickly.
