Like the Lexus (which, to be fair, is a five year old model outclassed by the new Avalon), the Azera is heavily contented with safety

gear and standard equipment. Airbags include the usual frontal installations, but also include front and rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted side curtain airbags for both front and rear outboard occupants, for a total of eight standard airbags. In addition to a cabin full of airbags, and I'm not talkin politicians here (ssssss.... Ed.), the Azera's dual front active head restraints are designed to prevent whiplash injuries. Rear seat passengers receive fully adjustable head restraints in all three seating positions. Projections indicate that the Azera will earn a five-star crash rating in U.S. government frontal and side impact crash testing.

the Lexus the base Azera receives cloth upholstery, but its list of standard features remains impressive, including solar control glass, front windshield de-icer, power sunroof, AM/FM/CD/MP3 6-speaker audio, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, steering wheel mounted controls, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, trip computer, cruise control, power windows locks and mirrors, remote keyless entry, alarm, HomeLink, compass, auto headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. Adding the leather option also adds power adjustable pedals, power-operated rear sunscreen, rain-sensing wipers and premium 6-disc in-dash audio. Topping it all off is one of the best comprehensive warranties in the biz: 5-years or 100,000 kilometres (60,000 miles).
