power sunroof, HomeLink® garage door opener, auto on/off headlamps, Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® hands-free phone, a 300-watt Bose audio system, and a back-up monitor viewed in the seven-inch colour display where the navigation screen sits are all standard FX45 fare.

To the FX45's base price of $62,400, my test car also came with the optional $6,600 Technology Package that included the nav system and also added Infiniti's Land Departure Warning system and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking--and always a rug rat's favourite--a rear DVD entertainment system.

qualities may not appeal to everyone. Bling looks aside, the physics of a vehicle weighing 1,964 kilograms and 1,674 millimetres in height means an FX45 won't bump your 350 Zed out of its revered space in your garage.

However, if the Infiniti's style is your cup of tea, its on-the-road performance is near or better than a $72,200 BMW X5 4.4i or an $80,100 Porsche Cayenne S. And if you want your premium, performance-oriented, mid-sized SUV to have a bit of that bad boy attitude, Infiniti's FX45 may be just your ticket.
