towards the "E" mark. At about 110 km/h, the rotors spin around 3500 revs, and drink slightly over 10 litres per 100 kilometres. They'll easily drink twice that much or more in the city if you can't resist the temptation to push it.

I think the easiest way to explain it is to look at who the RX-8 is for. Die hard RX-7 fans, myself included, will find it a bit too sensible. But, they'll buy one anyhow, because there's nothing else like it. So it's not the RX-7 fans that the RX-8 is for, but today's new breed of folks who want a car to do everything. And despite some awkwardness to the RX-8's personality in some areas, I can't think of any other coupes with room for four that come anywhere near it as a total package.
