The Speed6's sport seats are extremely supportive, by the way, ideal for the job at hand, and all controls are within easy reach and of the highest quality for this class. I have never stopped liking the centre stack, and
would choose it over any rival entry-level midsize sedan, no matter which Mazda6 is being referenced, and appreciate the Mazdaspeed6 for being equipped with the Japanese automaker's 6-disc in-dash CD player and top-line audio system.
On the negative, the additional steel in the rear bulkhead which reinforces the car to improve handling and enhance crash protection also makes it so a pass-through from the trunk isn't possible. Therefore a fixed rear seatback replaces the folding one, and longer items such as GS skis must be placed above the roof on a rack - Mazda has a full assortment of accessories for active types so don't worry about this too much.
So in the end, I can't give the Mazdaspeed6 100 percent approval, but for
its reasonable price I can hardly complain, now can I? It's an exciting machine to drive, offers plenty of luxury goodies and an especially attractive shape, that could only be made better if configured as a wagon - yes I particularly like the design and functionality of Mazda's new 6 wagon and think the Japanese brand would sell as many Mazdaspeed6 wagons as it would sedans, possibly more. I might even consider it for personal use if Mazda offered it in this more convenient body type, being a family guy and not willing to spend the monthly gas bill needed to power a similarly functional Dodge Magnum.
Until Mazda says otherwise, however, its Mazdaspeed6 variant will have to be purchased with four doors and a trunk. Not a bad combination either.
