City car
The Jetta is both a city car and a family car. The front seats are comfortable and supportive enough (except for the catastrophic seatback and lumbar adjustments that are controlled by big, oddly positioned knobs). As for the rear seats, they offer a little less support, but legroom and headroom are still very generous.
The Jetta's dark, unimaginative dashboard lacks a bit of flash. Yet, it remains functional in an anonymous sort of way. Fortunately, the stereo is powerful and pleasant, while the blue backlit instruments -- characteristic of VW cars -- enhance the modern feel of the interior.
And what about the diesel engine? Well, as you might have guessed, it's the pièce de résistance of the Jetta. Actually, its performance is smooth enough to even forget that the mill is running. More importantly, this TDI unit considerably improves fuel economy, which means that you spend less time at the gas station. During my entire test week, I averaged 5.9 L/100 km even with varying driving styles.
This adds to the already extensive list of benefits of driving the Jetta!
