The new Tahoe and Yukon will share the same fully boxed frame as the all-new Escalade luxury SUV. This duo of full-size SUVs have been very good sellers for GM over the last half-decade.

The operative words for the new trucks are "smoothness" and "quietness". Many improvements have been done to the trucks suspension including a coil-over-shock front suspension and wider front and rear tracks. Steering is now rack and pinion and it controls the direction of standard 17" wheels or optional 20" alloys. The new stiffer chassis is tuned for less vibration and many noise-reducing materials including new door seals are used throughout the truck to reduce annoying noise.

The first engine that will be made available is a 5.3L V8 equipped with displacement on demand pushing out 320 hp and 335 lb/ft of torque. Shortly thereafter, the 4.8L V8 will become obtainable. A hybrid version will be available in 2007.

The extended Suburban and Yukon XL trucks also receive the same changes and updates.
