A short road test made me realize just how easy it is to drive these new Rams. Even when you're not carrying any load, there is only a slight hopping of the rear axle. These trucks are very stable. The manual gearbox is easy to manipulate and allows take-offs in second gear. In city driving, you have to remember to take wider turns with the extended wheelbase model. What struck me was the length of the arms of the side mirrors; the latter are well positioned but require some learning to avoid any contact with surrounding objects or vehicles. I did like their ability to stand horizontal or vertical. Having descended a couple of hills with the Cummins engine, I can assure you the engine brake is really effective.
Well equippedDodge carefully prepared its foray into the 3-Class truck market. The company is aiming right at Ford and wants to show that it can answer the needs of demanding entrepreneurs with trucks that are tailor-made for them.
