Based on Ford's new CD3 chassis, the all-new Edge (Cross-over utility vehicle) will be built in Oakville Ontario. Production is set to begin by late summer of this year. Powering the Edge will be a 245 - 250 hp 3.5L V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Edge has a striking resemblance to the new Fusion. This is likely part of Ford's plan to give their vehicle a much-needed image. They have done so with their trucks so this is the next logical step.

It shares most of its components with its Lincoln twin, the Aviator. Although this may be true, each vehicle retains their own brand identity. In the USA, a FWD version will part of the basic package and an AWD iteration will be optional.
