When shopping for a 4x2 pickup truck with extended cab, automatic transmission and air conditioning, one realizes that there are no cheaper alternatives than the Ranger Sport. A Chevy Colorado LS costs $24,520, but does not include alloy wheels and a CD player. A similar GMC Canyon requires $24,620. Even the Mazda B3000 is more expensive, and at $21,130, it does not offer cruise control. All the other small pickup trucks are way out of range, costing thousands more.

Despite an aging design, the Ranger still has "it".

Conclusion

While it might appear prehistoric, the Ranger is the living proof that you don't need a complete overhaul to enjoy success. Obviously, it's not as modern and spacious as its competitors, but it still shines when performing small tasks.

The extremely attractive price has certainly helped the Ranger become more popular. Maybe consumers have realized that they can be perfectly happy with a pickup truck, no matter when it was last redesigned. Think about it: your monthly payments can be lower with the Ranger than with a Toyota Yaris!
