Offering a speedy and luxurious sedan, is a nice way to entice people in buying a hybrid model, since the car virtually has no sacrifices and saves fuel all the while. Lexus adopts the same strategy with its GS 450h, RX 400h and LS 600h L models.
However, a Accord without the electric motor and battery might be more logical (and especially less expensive), since the cylinder deactivation and engine stop function represent, in my opinion, the real reasons why this Accord consumes less fuel. We have to realize, though, that a simple 4-cylinder Accord will do the job nicely if we want to stop less frequently at the gas pump.
