Hyundai's all-new Santa Fe makes its debut at the Detroit auto show. Since its introduction in 2000, Hyundai has sold over 400,000 Santa Fes. Hyundai's largest SUV receives a complete makeover and moves upscale. The new front end is reminiscent of the 2006 Azera and is far more handsome than the previous Santa Fe. The new truck is larger and is available with the all-important 3rd row of seats.
Gone are the 2.4L 4-cylinder and the 3.5L V6. Replacing them are a 2.7L V6 which develops over 180 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.3L V6, which will put out 230 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque.
The Santa Fe proceeds with its move upmarket with better materials, nicer fit and finish and new accessories such as a navigation system. This way, it will be better equipped to face-off with the Nissan Murano and Toyota Highlander. The new truck comes equipped with 6 air bags, electronic stability control and optional DVD entertainment system. It will also be available with three rows of seats.
