A pickup that brings back memories
The handling makes us nostalgic about pickups in the good old days. On not-so-smooth roads, the suspension is very firm and the truck becomes bouncy. Pickup fans won't complain much about that, however, those who have driven a Ridgeline will quickly realize that there's a big difference. Nissan's Frontier is also firm, but it's better than the B4000.

The steering is pretty communicative, and the brakes are effective. The 4x4 B-Series has a transfer case that's controlled by a switch on the centre console, and there's a low range for strolls in the boonies or pulling tree stumps out of the ground, you know, just for fun.

The tight cabin features antiquated rear jump seats.

The cockpit: it's small
As you're climbing into the pickup, you'll quickly realize that it's a design of the past. The alignment of the trim panels is mediocre at best, and its appearance resembles what Ford interiors used to look like in the late '80s. Visibility is good, notably because the pillars are thin.

The seats provide a good level of comfort, despite their lack of adjustments, and the fabric looks and feels robust. There is no rear bench seat; only vulgar jump seats that face each other. I didn't know that still existed in 2007, and I can't recommend them to those who easily get carsick...

You can't strap a child car seat on the jump seats, so you must put it on the front passenger seat. The airbag deactivates itself automatically, but still, your little kiddies should normally be sitting in back.

The bed measures 1,824 mm long, which is more or less the same length as rival extended-cab pickups. However, most ATVs are too long to fit, so you'll have to buy a dealer-installed bed extended from the accessories catalog.

The Mazda B-Series, nearly 14 years young, still looks good.
