The package also comes with a high-quality sound system, common power accessories and a host of storage compartments (probably more than in my own chalet).

The only obvious flaw here, in my mind, is the lack of sound-deadening materials. Engine, road and wind noises permeate the cabin and are actually louder than one could wish for.

The audio system would benefit from improved cabin soundproofing.

Mechanical monster
The cargo bed features multiple storage bins and Nissan's Utili-track Channel System, allowing you to customize the available space and load all sorts of gear more easily.

But the workhorse definition associated with the Titan is first and foremost the result of its 5.6L V8 engine that generates 305 horsepower and a fantastic 379 lb-ft of torque -- 90 percent of which is available at 2,500 rpm, making the Titan a fast, ferocious monster. All this power is sent to either the rear wheels or all four wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission which, unfortunately, has a tendency to hesitate before finding the proper gear.

On the road, the Nissan is more than respectable. Bodyroll is limited, the steering is precise and the brakes are effective. And let's not forget about the 9,400-lb maximum towing capacity.

Just a little short
Yet, despite all these qualities, it's hard to find a spot for the Titan among the best full-size pickup trucks on the market. True, the engine is powerful and the cabin, well executed. However, this truck also has an incredible thirst for fuel. As for build quality, plastic selection is questionable; after a few months on the road, creaking noises could be heard throughout the cabin.

Obviously, you don't buy a Titan when you're primarily looking for a fun-to-drive vehicle. You have to be able to exploit all its capacities and capabilities. If that's your case, I think you will find the Titan both convenient and pleasant. Still, I'm not sure that it combines both equally as well as the competition.
