However, knowing that most Solara owners will never push their car to the limits of performance, they won't be concerned that the old V6's paucity of torque causes awkward downshifts from the slushbox or that spirited cornering causes never-ending understeer resulting in more chassis flex than a teenage gymnast, either with the cloth top up or down.
Hey! It's a Toyota!
With so few mid-sized coupes and convertibles on the market, it doesn't really matter. What does matter to potential Solara owners is that Toyota has given them more of what they liked about the previous cars -- a roomy, upscale interior, a dash of style and good ol' fashioned Toyota qualities: value and reliability.
If you're hell-bent on an upscale, four-seat convertible at a reasonable price and realistic about your driving habits, the slightly revised 2007 Solara is certainly a car you should put on your list.
Smooth V6/auto combo.
Well-appointed interior.
Good value.
One-generation old chassis.
Flaccid suspension.
