X5, 535ix Touring or X6?
But it's time for a reality check! While the X5 can handle the trails of the Black Forest, located near BMW's native Bavaria, it's much more likely that this luxury SUV will more often be used to pick up a slice of Black Forest cake at the local bakery.

In my opinion, if the purchase of an all-wheel drive BMW is a priority, those seeking true versatility would be better off choosing a 535xi Touring station wagon. Once the rear seats are folded away, this model offers a cargo area barely 100 litres smaller than that of the X5. However, the buyer will have to "settle" for an inline 6-cylinder engine, nevertheless more fuel-efficient.

The X5 is a rangy hatchback designed to get passengers and cargo from A to B, over rough terrain if need be.

But if it's exuberance you're after, you might be more tempted by the new X6 SUV, soon available in Canada. This model will be equipped with the 3-litre engine of the X5 3.0si or an impressive 400-horsepower twin-turbo V8 capable of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. What's more, its innovative design will surely turn more heads than the X5, which is starting to look conventional. But whatever your decision, your choice will always be about passion...
