Ford has given the Freestyle a once-over and more shockingly, a new name: the Taurus X. The new look imitates the Edge's front fascia which itself was inspired by the Fusion. The grille and headlight treatment give the Taurus X more character; a welcomed change from the anonymous ex-Five Hundred-inspired design. Thankfully, Ford has replaced the anaemic 3.0L V6 with the more powerful 260-hp 3.5L V6 also found in the Edge and Lincoln MKZ. The only transmission available is the same 6-speed automatic as in the Edge and AWD remains an option. FYI, this gearbox is a GM/Ford collaboration. Look for the new Taurus X in showrooms this summer.
