Conclusion
Frankly, I thought that I would be seeing more Astras on the road at this point in time, but maybe the $18,000 base price make people believe the car is too expensive; however, the car comes with many standard features and isn't a stripper.
The Saturn Astra is a car that's more entertaining than many of the rivals listed above; namely, its Cobalt/G5 cousins, the Dodge, the Kia and the Toyota. Its German engineering makes it a solid car with a driver-oriented attitude. The 5-door model is more practical than the 3-door, however, so that one would be my choice. With a little more power (and there are rumors to that effect), the Astra would be even more enticing for those who want a sporty compact hatchback.
You know what? After almost 20 years, Saturn is now offering a very interesting line of vehicles. Why did it take so long?
