The 2008 model year has already arrived for a number of manufacturers. Toyota is now the latest to add its name to that list. They have just recently announced the introduction of the 2008 Matrix and Corolla.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) first established itself in Canada on May 6th, 1987. The first car, a blue mica 4-door Corolla, rolled off the assembly line on November 30th, 1988. Since that faithful day, nearly 2 million Corollas have been assembled for the North American market. Currently, the company builds the Toyota Matrix, Corolla, Lexus RX 350 and four-cylinder (1.8L) engines in Canada.
The Corolla has been one of the biggest sellers in Canada and carries on relatively unchanged for 2008, that is to say that it will be available in the same tree trim levels: CE, Sport and LE. A new 20th Anniversary Edition commemorates the car's long history in Canada. This limited edition will be offered as a package on the CE. The package will include:
The 2008 Matrix also comes to us without any significant changes for 2008. Once again, the Base and XR models will be the only two trims available. The optional AWD system and performance-oriented XRS version bowed out after the 2006 model year.

- Power door locks with keyless entry (and, on models equipped with the four-speed automatic, auto-locking doors when the shifter is moved out of "park")
- Cruise control
- Power windows with driver's side auto down feature
- Special edition badging
- Aluminium alloy wheels
- Power moonroof
