Is it already the New Year?
The dual-zone air conditioning system keeps the interior comfortable even in 32-degree-Celsius heat. The design of the sun roof minimizes return airflow and thus decreases the chances of getting a stiff neck.

The interior of the vehicle is well soundproofed, allowing us to get the most out of the TSX's efficient audio system.

High-performance?
For a 3,430-pound car, yes. This is not the ultimate sports car, but it does manage some impressive passing manoeuvres. Our TSX Tech featured a 6-speed manual transmission. In 3rd gear, the car goes from 80 to 120 km/h in 6.5 seconds, what I call a solid performance. With the traction control system activated, we achieved 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds on average.

Our TSX Tech counted on a 6-speed manual transmission.

The stopping distance is what disappointed us: 42.2 metres is too long for a sedan of this quality that calls itself sporty. Add to that the half-second it takes to drop the gas and step on the brake pedal, and you're looking at over 50 metres for a complete stop. Acura can and should do better.

No disappointments when it comes to fuel consumption, on the contrary: we managed the exact city rating of 10.2 litres per 100 kilometres in mixed conditions.

On the road
The TSX handles well overall: its reactions are predictable, and its slight deviations are quickly corrected. The car under steered a little too much for my test partner's taste. As for me, I found the steering wheel betrayed engine torque when taking off on a wet surface or on an unstable one like sand or gravel, which forces you to let up and correct the steering. But on the whole, the updated torque ensures a flexible drive.

Our TSX Tech counted on a 6-speed manual transmission, and the gear range suits all styles. The shift lever needs firm guidance to find the first gear. The bungled seam of the lever knob both annoyed and irritated after a while. It was probably just a slip up, as the quality of the finish is excellent overall.

Which one to choose?
I'd be tempted to opt for the basic model over the Technology version. Well equipped and with fabric seats, the basic TSX is a luxury sedan boasting a great quality-price ratio.
