The next generation Acura TSX will debut at the 2008 New York International Autoshow. Acura, Honda's luxury and technology division, made the announcement earlier today alongside the release of a photo of the new model.
The pic suggests a makeover that naturally evolves the TSX into a meaner, sharper looking machine. In all, it's considerably different- though not inappropriate as a mid-sized Acura sedan. Acura says that the new model will go on sale this spring and feature numerous advancements in styling, technology, safety and performance.
Performance? Rumors flying around the internet say that the TSX may house the turbocharged VTEC engine currently found in the award-winning RDX Turbo model. This engine combines the low and mid-range punch of a turbocharger with the high-revving power of the brand's VTEC system for an exciting powerplant. It's based on the engine found in the current model TSX.
"The new 2009 TSX speaks clearly to the direction we are taking our Acura sedans in the future," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of Acura auto sales, "The TSX is a significant step in the advancement of our sedan lineup and the continued enhancement of the Acura brand."
Sales for the brand have been slumping lately, and you can bet that Acura's hoping to use the new model to help turn things around.
New York media days occur March 19th and 20th.
