Some standard convertible compromises apply to Infiniti G37
Thankfully, Infiniti has dealt with two of the more important convertible compromises very well.

Lid closed, the G37 Convertible looks tidy and consistent.

The first is top-up visibility. The windows stretch far rearward-- enabling an above-average view of the world around you and minimal teeth-grinding while changing lanes.

Secondly, as de-roofed coupes go, the G37's body structure is admirably stiff. It makes even decently-rigid competitors like the Volvo C70 and Mitsubishi Eclipse feel like rolling spongecake. There's negligible body flex to speak of, and none of the minor, excusable squeaks and rattles that go along with it.

Pack Lightly

The G37 convertible doesn't fare quite as well when it comes to space though-- and headroom tops the gripe list. Even drivers of average height will have to put their seat into rapper-recline mode to avoid brushing the ceiling.

Trunk space is average with the roof up, but cargo capacity borders on 'why bother' when the roof is stored within. At-hand storage areas inside are somewhat limited, too. Really, this isn't a four-seat topless cruiser unless each occupant can pack their gear in their own pockets.

The sweet sound of six
Redemption for the G37's limited space gushes from the tailpipes when the engine is opened up. The four-cam V6 uses, among other things, a dual-intake system and specially-tuned exhaust to create 325 horsepower. They’re the best kind of horsepower going too-- smooth eager to rev, and magnificent to hear.

The VQ series engine has a shrill howl at lower revs, a potent roar at higher revs, and a meaty, linear pull virtually everywhere in between. Once rolling, it basically forgets how much it weighs and hauls along with authority.

Some drivers will wish more exhaust sounds would enter the cabin, though dropping the top invites some more noise in. The G37 mostly sounds best to those standing behind it.
