BMW Beware!
Cabin construction is top-notch, and the materials in use are pleasing to the touch. Forward visibility is unimpeded however the contour of the back seats and the shape of the side glass impinge slightly upon side and rear visibility.

Behind the wheel
My exposure to the G37x Sport encompassed sessions inclusive of slippery snow-covered streets and clear open highway. On the slick surfaces, Infiniti's AWD configuration worked flawlessly. That was until the snow between the wheel ruts grew too high for the limited ground clearance beneath the G37. A lengthy session of shoveling resolved that shortcoming.

On dry surfaces, Infiniti's dynamo sedan really shows its mettle. For starters, the ability of this car to put high number on the speedo with great rapidity is quite stunning. Its AWD grip eliminates wasteful wheelspin, ensuring immediate hard-hitting launches time after time, wet or dry.

And yes, this car is fast off-the-line but I was more buzzed by its outstanding passing performance on the highway. Flattening the "go" pedal initiates a quick downshift followed by brutish, seat-sucking acceleration. The engine produces a note refined but not quite in the league of the turbine-like howl emitted by the 335i's powerplant on a run to redline.

Cabin construction is top-notch, and the materials in use are pleasing to the touch.

Ride and handling
The G37x Sport firmly engages its driver in an absolute, comprehensive and rewarding manner. This is a taut sports sedan that feels as solid as its German competitors. Steering inputs are responded to with accuracy and immediacy. Little to no body lean is encountered, even during the most aggressive of maneuvers.

A track session would be necessary to explore this vehicle's full potential. For on-street usage, I doubt anyone could find fault with the G37's balance and responsiveness. It's handling is razor sharp without becoming twitchy or over-sensitive when pushed.

Given the car's litheness on its rubber, ride quality doesn't suffer unduly. This sedan is easy to live with irrespective of pavement imperfection and the inevitable potholes of winter. The G37x Sport really shines on the highway where it's ride is smooth, quiet and extremely stable making this car a wonderful highway cruiser that discreetly carries its ferocious performance thresholds.

BMW or Infiniti?
There's no clear-cut singular answer to this oft-pondered puzzle but if financial outlay is an important factor in the decision-making formula, the G37x Sport delivers sensational AWD performance for considerably less cash than the Bavarian counterpart; it also provides more comfort, convenient and luxury accoutrements for less legal tender.

At the end of the day it's not all about money it's about passion and driving pleasure, and to assess that seat-time in both is a "must."
