The LS sedan is the long-serving Lexus flagship of luxury and refinement. Today it bares the ‘LS 460’ designation in reference to its 4.6-litre V8 engine. This is the fourth generation LS, and the first to utilize all-wheel-drive technology.

Visually pleasing
It’s no doubt difficult to deliver full-size sedan styling that’s inspiring yet conservative, aggressive yet docile and modern yet timeless. Prior to Bangle, BMW was in my view the most successful at pulling it off.

The LS460 was completely restyled for the 2007 model year in accordance with Lexus’s L-finesse design philosophy, which is reflected throughout its lineup. More exciting to me than the L-finesse inspired sheetmetal is the vehicle’s cabin design and execution.

Here one finds themselves immersed in an environment that exudes ‘first class’ comfort and quality. The leatherwork and polished wood highlights are absolutely flawless, and begging to be touched, caressed and absorbed into the senses.

I found the dramatic contrast between the cashmere-coloured leather and the dark grey dashboard in my tester to be startling yet attractive and visually stimulating. Workmanship throughout the cabin was outstanding, as it no doubt should be in this exclusive automotive segment.

More than opulence embodied within the LS 460
In addition to gracing occupants with a ‘to die for livingroom,’ the 2009 LS 460 is capable of inspiring those who savour its luxury with a shot of adrenaline derived from its newly available all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup combined with its ‘world’s first’ 8-speed automatic transmission.

The referenced technology supplies the grand sedan with Velcro-like adhesion to pavement and strong acceleration with nary a wheelspin to be had despite the immediate application of 357 horsepower.
