Half-car or big go-kart?
The biggest problem with the smart fortwo is the five-speed automatic transmission. You almost have time to turn a page on the calendar between shifts. Plus, it’s pretty ridiculous to find paddle shifters on the steering wheel with such a slow-reacting, unsporty tranny.

Finally, visibility is excellent with the windows directly next to you, although I don’t understand the purpose of the triangular rearview mirror.

As far as your weekday commute to work goes, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more appropriate servant.

Wrap-up

The 2009 smart fortwo BRABUS no doubt is a fun little toy to play with. It’s a competent machine that may not be suited for everyone but will make singles and city dwellers very happy. True, many sacrifices are required when it comes to carrying luggage, but as far as your weekday commute to work goes, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more appropriate servant
