The biggest problem with the smart fortwo is the five-speed automatic transmission. You almost have time to turn a page on the calendar between shifts. Plus, it’s pretty ridiculous to find paddle shifters on the steering wheel with such a slow-reacting, unsporty tranny.
Finally, visibility is excellent with the windows directly next to you, although I don’t understand the purpose of the triangular rearview mirror.

The 2009 smart fortwo BRABUS no doubt is a fun little toy to play with. It’s a competent machine that may not be suited for everyone but will make singles and city dwellers very happy.
