Drivers can click off paddle-shift gearchanges on the six-speed automatic as desired for some added novelty. Doing so is entertaining enough to warrant occasional use-- though manual shifts are far from the fastest on the market, and the transmission’s programming auto-shifts out of first gear by itself.

Add in the year-round traction and size-defying handling enabled by Acura’s slick SH-AWD system, and the ZDX should feel competent in any weather, not to mention entertaining to drivers who enjoy the odd high-speed corner or winding backroad.
On a road trip, said drivers will also likely appreciate the easy-to-use navigation interface, voice-command system and potent ELS stereo. Nice nighttime illumination from the xenon projectors, too.
Where a slick drivetrain and unique looks are concerned, Acura’s ZDX should impress driving enthusiasts and styling enthusiasts alike. Of course, being priced thousands under a comparably-equipped BMW X6 probably won’t hurt the ZDX’s performance in its nichey marketplace, either.
