The cabin is suitable for two adults and two children, as the rear seats have limited head-, leg- and footroom. Up front, however, the bucket seats are very (overly?) form fitting, which helps optimize the driving position. The controls, usefully arranged on a small part of the dash, are all within hand’s reach.
The A3’s high-end status has left it with powerful bi-xenon head lamps, leather appointments, an oversized moonroof, a 10-speaker stereo and automatic dual-zone air conditioning, among other things.
A pricey pill to swallow
Alas, that special Audi aura can only be had at a premium. Too much of a premium, perhaps. About $7,000 separate an A3 quattro Premium like our tester from a B200 Turbo. Even if you leave out the all-wheel drive, the 2WD A3 Premium still sports a base price over $3000 higher than the latter.
Of more or less equal performance (in the case of a 2WD A3), the B200 Turbo clearly stands out as the better choice. After all, it can accommodate four adults and its cargo area is more flexible. The A3 may come out the winner if you absolutely need AWD. This is one feature that is cruelly lacking in the B-Class. Could that be the reason Lois Lane chose an A3?
