I mentioned earlier that I am not a fan of the station wagon ‘look’ but they sure are practical! The back cargo area is not quite as big as the VW Golf Hatchback but it is nicely finished and offers more room than sedans in the same class. The seats fold down and you have ample space for trips to Ikea. If you have kids, going to soccer practice or camping for the weekend, you will have no issues making room for all your gear.
In car-pooling my friends to a fondue party (yup, I said fondue), I have no issues sitting my 6’3 friend in the front passenger seat. Three grown adults do not do so well in the back, but we made it work and the three-point seat belt in the center rear seat made for fewer fights for seating!
The fit and finish on the interior is everything we have come to expect from Audi. The materials have a nice look to them and everything is well laid out. It is very simple looking – black and basic – and as I have said, it is exactly what we have come to expect from this luxury brand. On that note, if you compare the interior to some of the competition, Lexus and BMW seem a bit more ‘updated’.
The Audi brand is one of my favourites for several reasons. I have always liked the styling, both inside and out. The drive is a bit softer and the steering is light.
This A3 filled all my expectations, but didn’t really impress me. I would seriously consider the extra $3,000 to get the diesel. However, it’s really too bad that they don’t offer the AWD Quattro option on the TDI. I don’t understand why Audi has left out AWD as this is an important feature for us here in Canada, and I therefore, think more people will opt for the gasoline version for now.
