The hearse has wings!
I'm going to be only partially as bold as Ford and submit the fact that I was going to use “Flex. Now with wings” as a title. As I pondered the significance of the line that is aimed at attracting the reader's attention, I quickly realized that the idea may not be as good as I first thought given the potential interpretation... Please indulge me.

I'm going to also guess that one or more of the bigwigs at Ford had doubts (not that they would ever admit to it) that the Flex was a good idea at first. Here was something out of the ordinary, slated to replace the ultra-bland yet competent Free X or TaurusStyle or whatever it was called (it's OK to poke fun at Ford now) that proposed a clearly polarizing design. And it works!

The Flex has become a show piece, if you will, of Ford's vision that not all vehicles need to blend into the scenery. Unlike the GM trio (Traverse, Acadia and Enclave) or Mazda CX-9, although competent, the Flex does it in a style all its own that defines out-of-the-box thinking that has put Ford on top of the car business in Canada and that will mostly leave them there with upcoming products such as the Fiesta and Focus.

For the young and old
A little while back, we had three Porsches in the Auto123.com parking lot. We regularly have Mercedes’, BMWs, Audis, Lexus' and have even had a few Bentleys and one Rolls-Royce. OK, tough to beat the last two but, in recent memory, not many other vehicles have garnered more attention than this Dark Ink Blue Metallic Flex EcoBoost.

Our in-house Researcher was all over the “uber-pimpness” of this vehicle, our Technical Content Director commented on the bold and superb styling of the Flex and our Production Assistant-Videographer had nothing but praise for the roomy comfortable interior. And this is to name but a few people that made positive comments on what is arguably one of the audacious automotive products available on the road today. I agree with all of them.

I can't hide the fact that the average age of my co-workers is of about 360 full moons and there seems to be a trend. The “I'm not crazy about it” comments, few and far between, generally came from the 50s on up. Only one person below that age group did not fancy the Flex's design; I suspect this person to not be quite well...
