More than meets the eye
The Taurus will certainly not be featured in the next Transformers movie, but the Taurus is more than just what a Taurus has always been; an A to B car. In Limited or SHO trim, the Taurus is smart-looking and specifically, my White Platinum tester, could double as an all-out luxury car. Packed with all the bells and whistles that most of us will seldom ever use, you could park it next to a BMW or Lexus and not feel like a lesser person.
As far as the eye is concerned, it is important to mention that rear visibility is impossible. If you purchase an SE, good luck in parking manoeuvres. If you select an SEL, make sure you tick the box with the rear-view camera option. It will save your rear end and your dignity, especially while reversing beside an S-Class Mercedes...
Lastly, for this review anyways, driving aids... I can't stand them! Thankfully, they can be switched off. The collision mitigation and forward warning systems do nothing more than stress the driver; at least they did me. I will let go at some point as they are becoming more mainstream.
The Taurus is back!
You can gather from my article that I like the Taurus and really, I do. I honestly did not expect to appreciate the behemoth as much as I did but Ford managed to combine utility with comfort and style, just as they did 25 years ago.
As for pricing, a 2010 Taurus has a base price of $29,999. My Limited fetched a tad more than $50,000 which is a little insane but if you want it all, you've got to pay. The 2011's entry price has dropped to $27,999, however most other trims are the same price.
