The exterior revisions are about more than just aesthetics—new LED lighting now illuminates the way. For 2010, this recent advancement in automotive technology provides the Range Rover with head, tail and brake light illumination that improves upon the vehicle’s previous lighting systems.
Other improvements can be found aboard the Range Rover. A revised instrument panel, steering wheel and redesigned dashboard unite to create a cleaner, less cluttered look than before. A touch-screen interface eliminates many of the buttons of yore, leaving the driver with a series of easy to operate controls for primary functions such as audio and HVAC.
As with the previous generation Range Rover, Land Rover’s unique Terrain Response control is situated on the centre console.
Off-road ability enhanced by Terrain Response and other electronic goodies Class and elegance abound in the Range Rover but not at the cost of its legendary off-road capability—after all, this is a Land Rover. As such, it doesn’t shy away from a royal romp through the woods.
That romp is possible thanks to Land Rover’s permanent four-wheel-drive setup, which includes a centre electronic differential with low-range transfer case.
In addition to the Range Rover’s Terrain Response technology, on-board aids to off-roading include Hill Descent Control (HDC) with Gradient Release Control (GRC), Four-wheel Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and Trailer Stability Assist.
Clearly, in addition to being a luxurious SUV, the Range Rover is machine capable of taking the path less—or not at all—traveled. Along the way, occupants will find sanctuary in the opulent cabin replete with real wood and leather surfaces along with heated seats and a 720 watt 14-speaker harman/kardon audio system.
Ah, life aboard the Supercharged Range Rover is good
I understand the absence of political correctness in driving a 510 horsepower, 2,672kg SUV to the mall. And when it’s not me behind the wheel, I abhor such gratuitous overkill. Ah…but when it is me it’s pure magic.
