Mild statement
These issues mar what is otherwise a fine-driving luxury machine. It is important to mention that this is a mild hybrid. This entails that the electric motor acts only as a booster to improve performance and acceleration, much like Honda's IMA system. So, if you're looking to driving in town on pure electric power, the S400 won't deliver. What it will do is make you feel like you're a part, however little, in keeping greenhouse gases in check.

400
It is necessarily difficult to criticize this car as it is a leaner and cleaner alternative to regular V8-powered luxury liners and even their Hybrid brethren. Problem is, in this price range, all you really get is a more environmentally-friendly car; no jump in power or prestige. And, at this price and for the buyer, an extra 20 large to get into a Hybrid 7-Series or LS with gobs of extra power is nothing.

Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that, if you buy this car, it is because you really wanted this specific car and no other. Nothing wrong with that either...
