Celebrating its 200th anniversary, Peugeot is showcasing its signature HYbrid4 all-wheel drive hybrid system featuring an electric motor driving the rear wheels, and a conventional gasoline engine powering the front.

The HR1 concept sports car, a luxurious 2+1 coupe has a single, centre rear seat. Its HYbrid4 powertrain consists of a front-driving 1.6 litre gasoline engine and a 70 kw electric rear motor, with a
fuel consumption rating of 4.9L/100km.
Debuting in Paris, the Peugeot 508 is offered in sedan and wagon and features a hi-tech interior. A range of both gas and diesel engines are expected to be available, with a 200 hp HYbrid drive model slated to arrive in 2012.

Peugeot's claims bragging rights to the world's first Diesel Hybrid Crossover by launching the 3008 HYbrid4. A 163 hp diesel engine drives the front wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission, while a 37 hp electric motor powers the rear wheels. When needed, the 4WD mode engages both motors simultaneously, delivering all-wheel-drive capability.

Sister to
Mitsubishi's iMiEV, the new Peugeot iOn will be unveiled in Paris. Slated to arrive in European markets within a couple of months, the iOn features a 64 hp electric motor lined to an 88 cell lithium ion batter. Charging in 6 hours from a 220 V outlet, the iOn has a range of 150 km, and a top speed of 130 km/hr.
