The seats are very firm, too firm for my liking, but with the raised seat I have a commanding view of the road in ahead of me.
The interior is funky. I was expecting something a bit more upscale looking but this car is just as unique on the inside as it is on the outside.
This highstyle edition features grey/silver fabric on the seats with a dark brown leather trim and accents to match the exterior. The dashboard has a mix of tasteful looking matte-silver accents. The dials, knobs, buttons and instrument cluster are incredibly basic yet unique. Nothing else looks quite like it! This edition also ads a cockpit clock and a rev counter.
Other standard equipment on this trim includes power windows, air conditioning with temperature control and a panorama roof with sunblind.
This fortwo has a 3-spoke leather steering wheel with paddle shifters and has a matching brown cross stitch for an added touch of class. The gear shift has matching grey leather and stitching. It is placed right in the middle of the floor and I found it to be a bit too low for me to reach it comfortably.
Being a 2-seater, as you would expect, the cargo space is very limited. My purse fits nicely behind the seat and in the trunk you can fit 2 suitcases or 4 grocery bags as it has a capacity of just over 220 litres of space. I recently drove the new Honda CR-Z hybrid, which is also a 2-seater, but it boasts way more room in the back for your stuff.
When the smart fortwo was first introduced, it had a 0.8Litre 3-cylinder turbo diesel engine that had 40 horsepower and 74-lb feet of torque. The transmission has been described as “clunky” by other journalists.
In 2008, they introduced a 1.0 litre in-line 3-cylinder gasoline engine. It produces 70 horsepower and 68-lb-feet of torque. This is the engine that equips my fortwo.
